This organisation delivers major projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, justice, defence, covering new build, refurbishment and complex engineering schemes. This is a senior operational role, suited to someone who has experience overseeing multiple projects and leading teams in a large, structured contractor environment.
The Construction Operations Manager will take responsibility for operational performance across a portfolio of live projects. You’ll work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers and site teams to ensure safe, efficient and commercially sound delivery, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. This role offers long-term stability, exposure to high-profile projects and genuine progression within a reputable contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership across multiple construction projects
- Ensure delivery to programme, budget, quality and safety standards
- Champion a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture across all sites
- Support project teams with planning, resourcing and risk management
- Drive consistency, best practice and continuous improvement
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in a senior operational or project leadership role within construction
- Background delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Commercially aware with solid understanding of cost and programme control
- Sound knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC / HND / Degree or equivalent)
- Chartered status (MCIOB, MAPM or similar) desirable but not essential
- Competitive salary dependent on experience
- Company car or car allowance
- Bonus scheme, pension and private healthcare
- Career development and progression opportunities
- Opportunity to work on major UK construction and infrastructure projects
If you’re an experienced construction professional looking to step into a strategic operational role with a respected UK contractor, I’d be keen to discuss this opportunity further. Please call Nicky Harris, RGB Recruitment, Exeter.
