Job Description
This is a unique role that will give you the opportunity to manage the prerequisites (materials, permits, resources, and services) for all complex jobs, including planned and reactive work, across maintenance and operations.
Each day, you will be managing and liaising with our contractors, and you will have further opportunities to provide input into future planning and solutions and provide technical support to the wider team.
What you’ll be doing as the Engineering Coordinator
As well as the above, this role is very diverse and consists of a wide range of tasks, some of which are listed below:
- Use technical expertise and data captured from the field to provide solutions for operationally critical jobs.
- Highlight key operational risks across the area and present these to obtain funding.
- Maintain the availability of plant and equipment and optimise performance.
- Understand and engage with a variety of equipment, including but not limited to pumps, valves, pipework, penstocks, weirs, lifting equipment, ultrasonic level sensors, flowmeters, control panels and LV electrical equipment.
- Ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are managed correctly, through safe system of work approval, reviewing method statements, permitting and site inspections.
Base Location: Wick Lane Depot.
Working Pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday. (from 7:30 to 15:30)
Requirements for the role: Full clean UK driving licence.
Please note that internally, the job title for this position is Technical Coordinator.
What you should bring to the role
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:
- Relevant technical experience working in a comparable operations industry, such as water, gas, electricity, industrial-sized pumping and mechanics.
- Technical mindset knowledge of penstock flow-control devices, pumps and pipes and other below-ground assets.
- Skilled at managing external operational contractors on-site.
- You will be able to articulate risk, be able to prioritise repairs and oversee the delivery of these.
- Excellent collaboration skills so that you can work closely with Planners, Field Performance Managers, suppliers, and 3rd parties.
- Excellent attention to detail with documentation.
- Able to manage a large workload of numerous jobs in parallel.
- Competent with IT systems as well as effective communication skills.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have:
- Experience as a Mechanical, Electrical or ICA technician.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry, including confined space access regulations.
