Minute Taker


Location: PL1 (Hybrid/hot desk worker – minimum one day per week in the office, with more during training)


Assignment: Temporary role for roughly 12 months dependent on the needs and requirements of the service. (12/01/2026 – 12/01/2027)


Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (37 hours per week)


Pay Rate: £13.90 per hour


 


About the Role


We’re looking for a detail-focused Minute Taker to join our clients Children, Young People and Families service. This role is vital in supporting child protection case conferences, complex strategy meetings, and other statutory meetings. You’ll ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality documentation that supports safeguarding and effective decision-making.


 


What You’ll Do


  • Take clear and accurate minutes of child protection and statutory meetings, producing high-quality records within agreed timescales.
  • Support the Independent Chair in creating and updating child protection plans during meetings.
  • Work with the Chair to ensure abridged versions of plans are suitable for young people and families.
  • Record meeting attendees and maintain accurate contact details.
  • Handle sensitive information securely during and after meetings.
  • Input data relating to minutes into IT systems with precision.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and best practice.
  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the role.

 


Desirable Knowledge & Experience


  • Basic understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues.
  • Knowledge of Children, Young People and Families services.
  • Experience providing business support within statutory children’s services.

 


Essential Skills


  • Strong administrative background with knowledge of office procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based software.
  • Experience in minute and note-taking, with the ability to capture significant content clearly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage tactfully with service users and professionals.
  • Ability to sustain concentration during lengthy meetings and manage the emotional impact of sensitive information.
  • High literacy skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Strong time management and punctuality, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
