Senior Housing Allocations & Lettings Officer - £24.35 per hour, West London/Hybrid

Local Authority is seeking a Senior Housing Allocations and Lettings Officer to support their Economy team at their West London offices.

This is a temporary position to start ASAP until March 2026 and will pay £24.35 per hour PAYE.

The role is hybrid, working 2-3 days at the offices in Hammersmith.

The Senior Housing Allocations and Lettings Officer will be responsible for:
  • Managing the provision of social housing in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures and relevant Government legislation e.g. homelessness Code of Guidance, Housing Allocation Scheme etc.
  • Supporting the delivery of a coordinated and ruthlessly financially efficient allocation and letting service, this may be delivered through the housing register, transfers, decants and under occupation.
  • Working with colleagues and partners to establish and implement nominations agreements and Local Lettings Plans for new build schemes.
  • Managing, inspiring and motivating officers facilitating the allocation and lettings service and the delivery of advice and support to applicants by all means of communication on housing solutions keeping a strong customer focus at all times in line with our commitment to providing high quality services.
The ideal Senior Housing Allocations and Lettings Officer will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Experience of working with Choice based Lettings schemes
  • Experience of using Housing specific IT systems
  • Good communication skills and willingness to talking to housing applicants, explain the housing allocation process and priorities, especially high profile/complex cases.
  • Experience of working in a similar customer facing service and dealing sensitively and effectively with customer issues, particularly in relation to vulnerable people
  • Experience of working within a performance management framework and reporting on KPIs and outcomes
  • An understanding of training, supporting, and developing staff.
  • Good numerate and basic accounting skills, with the ability to provide quality reports in a speedy in a clear and speedy manner
  • Able to effectively manage a team and to contribute to policy development and partnership arrangements
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures, and an understanding of its practical application in the workplace and in relation to lettings.
