Maintenance Technician

Location: Skelmersdale, WN8
Pay: £25.35 per hour inclusive of 30% shift allowance, equivalent to £50,0916 per annum
Hours:

• Mon–Thurs: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm
• Fri: 6am–12pm / 11am–4.35pm
• Nights (when and if required): Mon–Thurs, 9pm–6:30am

Contract Length: Temporary for 11 months
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician with at least 2 years’ experience in machine maintenance to support our production team in Skelmersdale. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving machinery to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Key Duties

• Preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs
• Process monitoring and in-line quality checks (SPC)
• Support production to meet cost, quality, and schedule targets
• Read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings
• Build strong relationships with on-site teams

Skills & Experience

• Time-served or NVQ-qualified in maintenance (electrical/mechanical)
• Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC fault-finding (Omron preferred)
• Robotics experience (ABB preferred; training available)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Self-motivated, able to work independently
• Willing to work night shifts when required

Desirable

• Experience with Omron vision systems
• Knowledge of injection moulding, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Root cause analysis and Health & Safety awareness
