Job Description
Are you a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people who have struggled to engage with education? This small, nurturing alternative provision is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with anxiety, school refusal, and mental health needs.
As a Teaching Assistant in this supportive setting, you will work closely with a small group of learners who require patience, encouragement, and emotional understanding to help them rebuild confidence and enjoy learning again. Every day brings the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a student’s wellbeing and educational progress.
Job Role:
- Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for students with anxiety and mental health needs.
- Building trust and positive relationships to help students feel safe and valued.
- Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering personalised learning activities.
- Encouraging students to re-engage with education at their own pace.
- Helping to create a calm and nurturing classroom environment.
- Monitoring and recording student progress and emotional development.
- Previous experience working with young people who have SEMH needs, anxiety, or school refusal.
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting learners.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
- A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
