Job Description
A warm and nurturing special school in South Birmingham is seeking a Primary SEND Teacher to join the team on a permanent basis from January. This school has outstanding facilities, a collaborative and supportive staff team, and a Headteacher who leads with clarity, compassion, and a commitment to putting children first. Classes benefit from excellent TA support, enabling a highly personalised and child-centred approach.
Pupils have a range of needs including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Down’s Syndrome and communication needs. You will be teaching a small class of primary-aged children, focusing on developing communication, independence, emotional regulation and a love of learning. This role is ideal for a SEND Primary Techer who is passionate about helping children to reach their full potential. Ideally you will have previous SEN teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for primary-aged pupils with SEND
- Work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants to create a calm and purposeful learning environment
- Use a range of strategies to support communication, emotional development and independence
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and external professionals
- Track progress and adapt learning plans to meet individual needs
- Contribute to a supportive, reflective and child-focused school culture
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching children with SEND (Autism experience highly beneficial)
- A patient, creative and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to ensuring every child has access to a meaningful education
