Job Description

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Keen to get into teaching but need hands-on classroom experience first? This paid, year-long role is the ideal stepping stone.

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £85 - £100 per day
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** Primary School location: Ward of Hodge Hill
*** 1:1 and small group classroom support

The Role
You’ll be based in a lively, diverse primary school supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Your day will involve working 1:1 with pupils who need extra help, running group interventions in reading, writing or maths, and assisting the class teacher with general classroom tasks.

You’ll play a key role in raising attainment, building pupils’ confidence and helping the class run smoothly. You’ll also gain real insight into planning, behaviour management and SEN support.

The Candidate
This role suits a graduate with a clear interest in education. You’re patient, proactive, and reliable. Ideally, you’ve worked with children before – whether in a school, tutoring, volunteering or mentoring. You’ll need to be confident in building relationships quickly and consistent in your approach.

This is excellent experience if you’re thinking of teacher training, educational psychology, or a future role in
schools.

The School
The school is a two-form entry primary in the Hodge Hill ward. It’s well-run, community-focused, and known for supporting graduates through the year. You’ll be guided by experienced teachers and part of a wider network of support staff.

If you're serious about working in education, this role gives you the tools and experience to move forward with confidence.
