Supervising Social Worker - Fostering Support Team
£30.57 - £33.30 per hour
Birmingham
36.5 hour p/w, contract until June 2026

About the role:
An exciting acting up opportunity has arisen within the Fostering Service for a Supervising Social Worker in Fostering Support Team. This opportunity is a secondment position, potentially until June 2026

Our Fostering Support Team supports placements for children and young people who are cared for by our mainstream foster carers. We are a dedicated passionate social work service, led by experienced managers that support, advise and supervise all approved mainstream foster carers.

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will be passionate about making a positive difference and achieving change for the children and families we work with.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of approved foster carers.
You will be provided with a supportive team environment where you will have access to the right tools, equipment and resources, so you can focus on your work.
You will receive regular supervision and training opportunities which will support your career development.
You will deliver consistent high-quality child focused support to Birmingham's mainstream foster carers and the children in their care.

About you:
Are you a qualified, SWE registered social worker?
Can you bring your experience of working with vulnerable children and their families to this role?
Do you have previous experience of the supervising social worker role?
Are you passionate and committed to working flexibly with others?
Have you collaborated effectively with other teams, statutory and voluntary agencies?
Can you demonstrate a good understanding of key legislation, which equips you to analyse and intervene effectively?
Crucially, do you have the ability to communicate clearly to all kinds of audiences, both in person and in writing and be competent in handling large numbers of calls each day?

What you need:

• A degree in Social Work or equivalent
• Registered with Social Care Wales/ Social Work England
• At least 3 years PQE permanent, direct employment within English LA
• Completed relevant post-qualifying training
• Enhanced DBS check
• Excellent communication and written skills
