Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team and play a key role in developing and implementing a new Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme.
This is a brand-new position, offering an exciting opportunity to shape how maintenance is carried out through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) — a system that keeps equipment in top condition to prevent breakdowns, improve reliability, and increase efficiency across production.
You’ll be part of a dedicated PPM team responsible for servicing, maintaining, and improving production machinery and equipment.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in line with agreed schedules.
- Diagnose, test, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Identify and report potential machinery defects or early signs of failure, using the CMMS system for data capture.
- Record all work completed accurately in the CMMS system, ensuring effective shift handovers.
- Support and lead shift-based problem-solving activities using tools such as 5 Whys and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Work with equipment suppliers (OEMs) for technical support and parts procurement when required.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost reliability and efficiency.
- Raise life cycle issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Use CMMS data to identify trends and support improvement projects.
- Maintain tidy, organised workshops and stores in line with 5S standards.
- Accurately record and manage spare parts usage within the CMMS system.
- Complete all maintenance documentation and quality records clearly and correctly.
- Ensure equipment is positively released and signed off after maintenance work.
- Attend additional training sessions when required.
- Apply TIMWOODS principles to identify and reduce production waste.
- Uphold all site Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- Maintain high hygiene and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to maintain a positive, team-focused environment.
- Immediately report any health and safety concerns to your Manager or Supervisor.
- Follow all site safety rules and procedures, ensuring your own safety and that of others.
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Do not interfere with safety systems or equipment provided.
- Follow correct procedures in the event of accidents or near misses.
- Cooperate with management to maintain a safe working environment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to food quality and retailer-specific standards.
- Ensure maintenance work supports consistent product quality and compliance.
- Reduce environmental waste by turning off equipment, lights, or utilities when not in use.
- Report and correct poor environmental practices or energy waste.
- Suggest improvements to environmental management and sustainability processes.
- Support the company’s environmental policy and energy-saving initiatives.
