Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Birmingham, teaching GCSE English to enthusiastic and engaged students. This role offers the chance to work closely with an outstanding Head of Department and an exceptional Trust English Lead, ensuring you have access to high-quality guidance, resources, and professional development.
As an English Teacher in this forward-thinking school, you will inspire students to develop a love of literature and language, while ensuring they are fully prepared for their GCSE exams. With small class sizes in some year groups and a collaborative teaching environment, you will have the time and support to deliver lessons that truly make an impact.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the GCSE curriculum
- Using creative and effective teaching strategies to support progress for all learners
- Working closely with departmental and trust leadership to share best practice
- Tracking and assessing student progress, providing targeted interventions where necessary
- Contributing to the wider life of the English department and school community
- QTS and experience teaching English to Key Stage 4
- A strong understanding of the GCSE English curriculum
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills
- The ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their potential
- A collaborative, team-focused approach to teaching
